Ethibond Excel Suture is a nonabsorbable, braided surgical suture made from polyethylene terephthalate. It is designed to offer high tensile strength and consistent performance in soft tissue approximation. The braided structure enhances flexibility and control during suturing, supporting precise tissue handling and knot security across a variety of surgical procedures.

The suture is coated with a polybutilate compound, a nonabsorbable, biologically inert substance that reduces tissue drag and improves overall handling characteristics. This coating functions as a lubricant, facilitating smoother passage through tissue compared to uncoated braided fibers, while maintaining strong knot integrity. 

With a length of 30 inches and a fine Size 2-0 diameter, this suture is particularly suited for delicate tissue repair. It features an RB-1 needle, which is a taper point type with a 1/2 circle curvature. This needle design allows smooth and controlled penetration through soft tissue layers without cutting, making it ideal for use in ophthalmic, microvascular, or fine plastic surgery applications.
